FAQ's1. At what resolution should I scan? Halftones (either greyscale or color images that change in value and are not one continuous tone) should be scanned at 2 times (twice) the line screen at which your printer is printing at 100% size. Standard line screens used for printing at National Teleprinting are 133, 150 and 175. (When in doubt as to the exact line screen, we suggest that your halftones be 300 ppi when sized to 100%) Also, all scans should be sized to 100% in a program such as Photoshop BEFORE final placement in your page layout program (i.e. Quark, Pagemaker, etc.). Lineart (images and graphics that are a solid, continuous tone and do NOT change in value as does a halftone) should be scanned at the same resolution at which your printer will be printing. For example, most of the jobs done on the presses at NTI will be printed at 1200 dpi; therefore, lineart should be created or scanned at 1200 ppi for sharpest reproduction. 2. Must RGB images be converted to CMYK for printing? YES, however, once in CMYK, it is not advisable that you convert back to RGB; therefore you might want to save your original RGB image also. 3. Do I need to provide all fonts that are used in my digital file? Should I even include standard fonts like Helvetica and Times? YES. If you are using a postscript font, include both printer and screen/bitmap versions for each font. If you are using TrueType, there is only one font that you will need to send. For your own safety, we strongly suggest that you include ALL fonts (even standard fonts like Times and Helvetica), as these fonts may vary slightly, thus affecting the final output of your document. Also, include laser samples with your job, and do separations when necessary. 4. Do you accept PC files? We are able to work with most PC files. Please contact us so we can discuss your particular situation. 5. What is your standard turnaround time? What about "RUSH JOBS"? Standard turnaround time is 24 hours; however, for an additional fee, we can accomodate almost any rush request. Generally, rush jobs carry a 100% mark-up. 6. Do you offer free pick-up and delivery?
